Privacy Policy
How Valt collects, uses, shares, protects, and deletes your information.
Last updated: June 14, 2026
Zero LLC, which operates the Valt product (“Valt,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), provides a personal finance product that helps users view accounts, net worth, financial activity, and financial progress in one place. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, how we protect it, and the choices you have. By using Valt, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
Email address, authentication information, profile information, onboarding responses, goals, preferences, support messages, and other information you choose to enter.
Financial account information via Plaid
With your permission, we use Plaid Inc. (“Plaid”) to connect to your financial institutions and access read-only information such as account names, balances, transactions, account identifiers, institution information, holdings, and related financial account data needed to provide Valt features. Valt does not receive or store your bank login credentials.
Usage and device information
Basic technical, log, and usage information needed to operate, secure, debug, and improve the service, such as device/browser information, timestamps, pages or features used, errors, IP address, and security events.
Cookies and analytics
We use a small amount of privacy-protective analytics (currently Vercel Web Analytics) and limited error- and performance-monitoring tools to understand aggregate, anonymized usage and to detect and fix problems so we can improve Valt. Our analytics is cookieless, does not build advertising profiles, and does not track you across other websites. We use essential cookies or local storage only as needed to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and operate core features.
Payment or subscription information
If Valt offers paid plans, payment processors may provide subscription status, receipt, plan, and limited payment metadata. Valt does not intentionally store full payment card numbers.
Communications
Messages you send to Valt, support requests, feedback, and related communication metadata.
2. How we use your information
- Provide, operate, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot Valt.
- Connect your financial accounts through Plaid with your permission.
- Aggregate accounts, calculate balances/net worth, categorize activity, and show financial insights, trends, and educational guidance.
- Personalize product features, onboarding, reminders, and suggested review areas.
- Operate the optional social and ranking features you turn on — such as leaderboards, friend comparisons, and your standing relative to other users — using only the limited profile signals you choose to share (for example, display name, tier, and age range), never your underlying account balances.
- Communicate with you about your account, service updates, security, support, and product changes.
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, and unauthorized access.
- Comply with legal, tax, accounting, contractual, and regulatory obligations.
- Improve Valt using aggregated, de-identified, or otherwise privacy-protective data where appropriate.
Automated processing
Valt uses automated processing of the information you provide and connect to calculate metrics such as your financial-health score, tier, rankings, net-worth figures and projections, and to generate the educational guidance shown by the Coach. These outputs are informational estimates, not decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you, and we do not use them to deny you any product, service, or right. Where applicable law gives you rights regarding automated processing or profiling, we honor them as described below.
3. Plaid
We use Plaid to help you securely connect your financial accounts. When you connect an account, Plaid may collect your login credentials or authentication information directly from you or your financial institution. Valt does not receive or store your bank login credentials. Plaid provides Valt with the account data you authorize so we can provide Valt features. Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid’s End User Privacy Policy.
You can disconnect a linked financial institution at any time in Valt where the feature is available or by contacting us at privacy@valtgrowth.com. When you disconnect an institution, we delete associated financial data and revoke or remove Plaid access as described in the “Data retention and deletion” section below.
4. How we share information
Service providers
We share information with vendors that help us operate Valt, such as Plaid for financial connectivity, Supabase for authentication/database services, Vercel for hosting, payment processors if paid plans are offered, and support/security vendors as needed. These providers may use data only to provide services to us and as otherwise allowed by their agreements with us.
Legal, safety, and security
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, government request, or to protect rights, safety, security, users, Valt, or others.
Business transfers
If Valt is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to this Privacy Policy or notice to you where required.
With your direction or consent
We may share information when you direct us to do so or consent to a specific sharing activity.
5. How we protect your information
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information. These safeguards include encryption in transit, platform encryption at rest, row-level access controls, least-privilege access, multi-factor authentication for administrative systems, managed secrets, access reviews, logging, and vulnerability management. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will notify you and applicable regulators as and when required by law.
6. Data retention and deletion
We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary to provide Valt, maintain security, comply with legal or contractual obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
- Plaid access tokens and related financial account data are retained while your account connection is active and deleted or revoked within 30 days after a verified institution disconnect or account deletion request, unless retention is legally required.
- Account and profile data are retained while your account is active and deleted or de-identified within 30 days after a verified account deletion request, unless retention is legally required.
- Security logs, support records, access records, and billing/tax records may be retained longer where needed for security, dispute resolution, legal compliance, accounting, or fraud prevention.
- Residual copies of deleted information may remain in encrypted backups until they expire on our normal rolling backup cycle, generally within 30 to 90 days, unless a legal hold or recovery need applies.
7. Your rights and choices
- Access and update. You may access and update certain account information through Valt or by contacting us.
- Disconnect accounts. You may disconnect a linked financial institution at any time where supported.
- Delete account. You may request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Communications. You may opt out of non-essential marketing communications if we send them. We may still send service, security, legal, or transactional messages.
- State privacy rights (US). Depending on your state of residence (for example, California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws), you may have the right to know/access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of your personal information; to opt out of the sale of personal information, sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, and certain profiling; to limit the use of sensitive personal information; and to appeal a denied request. Valt does not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, but we honor all rights required by applicable law.
To exercise privacy rights, contact us at privacy@valtgrowth.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request, and you may use an authorized agent where the law allows. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our response, and we will inform you of the outcome as required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
8. California privacy notice
If California privacy law applies to your use of Valt, the categories of personal information we may collect include identifiers, customer records information, commercial information, internet or electronic network activity, geolocation information derived from IP address or device data, professional or employment-related information only if you provide it, sensitive personal information such as account login or financial account information, and inferences derived from your use of the service. We collect and use these categories for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We use sensitive personal information only to provide and secure Valt, comply with law, and other purposes permitted by applicable law.
9. International users
Valt is operated from the United States. If you access Valt from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws different from those in your location. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal bases and safeguards for cross-border processing.
10. Children’s privacy
Valt is not directed to minors and is intended only for users who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a person under 18, we will take appropriate steps to delete it. (Consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, we also do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.)
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version and revise the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we will provide notice as required by applicable law or appropriate to the change.
12. Contact us
